Topsy™ for Patriot High

Patriot High School in Prince William County Virginia USA, is the newest of 11 high schools in one of Virginia’s largest public school districts. Opened in 2011, the school's learning program is based on the four principles of 'Leadership, Integrity, Character and Pride'.

Not long after the school opened, its Principal sought out modern litter bins to fit in with the state-of-the-art surroundings on campus. The school contacted Glasdon and chose the Topsy Litter Bin.

The original Topsy Litter Bin was designed more than thirty years ago, and the current model is used in streets and public spaces all over the world. Topsy's unique design features immediately set it apart from the crowd and turned it into a global smash hit.

Hooded litter bins are the standard in many countries, and increasingly popular in the US. Unlike open wastebasket designs, they keep the rain out, cut down on litter being blown out by the wind, and stop homes and businesses depositing municipal waste.

With a lot of litter bins, hooded or open, operatives have to wrestle a heavy bin bag or liner up to the top of the can to empty it. A full bin bag in a large litter bin could weigh as much as fifty pounds, and municipal workers could be emptying hundreds of litter bins a day.

Topsy Litter Bin features a lightweight polymer hood that lifts off the base, leaving the heavy steel or plastic liner with a lip of just a few inches to clear. No more straining! Topsy's Durapol™ material construction means that it will never rust, is easy to wipe clean, and never needs painting.
