Glasdon Director Swaps Boardroom for Pool Room in Charity Cue-Off

Andrew Jackson, Finance Director and Company Secretary for Glasdon Group Limited, joined school friends Gary Clunie, Paul Spinks and Paul Doughty in a gruelling 24-hour pool marathon for three charities dear to their hearts.

The ex-Kirkham Grammar School pupils, who have been friends for over 30 years, decided to re-kindle a similar fundraiser Gary and Paul D organised back in 1985.

The event then had raised cash in support of Band Aid, this time around and in Andrew’s Thornton home the spotlight was on the table for Prostate Cancer UKNSPCC and Alzheimer’s Research UK.

Andrew explained:

“Gary lost his father to prostate cancer recently and we all live across the country now so we thought it would be a really good idea to get back together and recreate this event.  Gary and I pledged to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK while Paul D and Paul S also wanted to raise money for two charities that they feel strongly about.”

The big event took place over the very sunny May bank holiday weekend, of which they saw very little, but even though they are usually more at home around the boardroom table these days, they insist the 24-hour non-stop pool challenge was worth the pain.

Andrew continued:

“We set a team target of £2,725.00 and thanks to the support from family, friends and colleagues we’ve already smashed our target with funds raised so far reaching an amazing £3,375.67!”
