Lack of recycling bins in communities: a key issue

"For many people, the barrier to recycling when they are out and about is simply due to a lack of recycling bins in public places." Rick Burnett CEO Keep Australia Beautiful Queensland claims, "It’s clear we need the right infrastructure in place to assist people with recycling."

In efforts to address this issue, Keep Australia Beautiful awards community grants for recycling bins. This programme, funded by Coca-Cola (totalling $440,000 in 2013) aims to encourage and facilitate “Out & About” recycling schemes.

Cleveland District State High School (pictured), are one of the recipients of the Keep Australia Beautiful Beverage Container Recycling Grants, opting for Glasdon recycling containers. They have rolled out C-Thru and Eco Nexus recycling bins throughout the school and surrounding ovals (sports fields).
