Dillon Byrne's September Update

September was a good and bad month for me.

I started to find some really good late season form. I was finishing well in the pro kermesses and was feeling really good in all my races. I also managed to get a 2nd place out of 129 riders, which was a great result.

Unfortunately my season came to an abrupt end, a lot earlier than I had hoped. On the 29th September I had a hard crash and dislocated my shoulder. It was very painful and unpleasant to see my bone sticking out at a strange angle. Luckily the painkillers helped with the discomfort... until they wore off. My shoulder has been put back into place now however the ligaments are also torn as a result of the injury, meaning I can’t come home until I can lift my arm up properly.

So in summary, September was a good month to start with, but it ended in a very bad way. This has still been a great year for me, competing in 80 races! I have raced with some amazing riders and learnt a lot about racing and myself as an athlete. Everyone around me, both at home and in Belgium, has provided me with the best support. I would like to personally thank everyone that has helped me in any way, from the bottom of my heart, a huge thank you!
